KARACHI (Dunya News) - A "highly wanted" terrorist was arrested by the Sindh Rangers during an intelligence-based operation in Gulistan-e-Johar, according to a statement issued by the Sindh Rangers spokesperson on Thursday. According to a spokesperson for the Rangers, the suspect, identified as Dost Muhammad son of Gul Faraz Khan and a resident of Bajaur, was involved in a November 2020 attack on the Assistant Commissioner of Nawagai in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During the incident, government machinery was set ablaze and firing was carried out.
Officials said a case related to the attack had been registered under serious terrorism charges with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Malakand Region. After the incident, the suspect had gone into hiding in Karachi.
Rangers authorities further stated that the arrested militant was allegedly planning terrorist activities at sensitive locations in the city along with his accomplices. Raids are being conducted at various locations to apprehend his associates.
The spokesperson added that the suspect has been handed over to the CTD Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for further legal proceedings.
