ISLAMABAD (Zeeshan Yousafzai) – The Ministry of Human Rights has proposed five major development projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the upcoming fiscal year 2026–27, seeking more than Rs3.41 billion in funding.

According to official documents available to Dunya News, the total estimated cost of the ministry’s portfolio stands at approximately Rs10.40 billion while Rs3.41 billion has been requested for allocation in FY 2026–27. The ministry stated that these projects are aimed at strengthening the protection and promotion of human rights with a particular focus on women, children, senior citizens, and vulnerable segments of society.

Among the key initiatives is the establishment of day care centers in Islamabad, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. These are designed to support working women by providing childcare facilities and enhancing their economic and social participation. Another major project includes the construction of a Human Rights Complex in Islamabad which will bring various human rights institutions under one roof and provide facilities for education, training, and research in the field of human rights.

The proposed plan also features the construction of a Senior Citizen Home and a Child Protection Institute in Islamabad, aimed at ensuring the welfare, safety and rehabilitation of elderly citizens and children through modern and dedicated facilities.

Additionally the ministry has included the Prime Minister’s Strategic Reforms Initiative “Women on Wheels”, under which 22,000 women across the country will be provided with scooters to promote mobility, independence, and economic inclusion.

Other initiatives under the PSDP proposal include Human Rights and Women Development measures, the Federal Institute of Human Rights, and Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Programmes. These projects are intended to promote human rights education, training, and research, while advancing women’s economic empowerment and gender equality nationwide.
