LAHORE (Dunya News) – A student of Fatima Jinnah Medical College died after reportedly jumping from the roof of a hostel building in Lahore, police and hospital officials said.

Doctors said the deceased was identified as Fareeha, 22, who was appearing in her final-year examinations.

She sustained critical head injuries and later died during treatment.

Initial information suggested she had been facing severe depression for the past several months. She had completed one paper and was preparing for another scheduled later this week.

Medical staff said she was originally from Kashmir and had previously been living in Lahore with her father before relocating following his retirement.

Police said they received an emergency call at around 7:55pm reporting that a student had fallen from the third floor of the hostel. She was shifted to hospital in critical condition but could not survive. Further investigation is under way.
