Four terrorists eliminated in Karachi CTD 'encounter'

Two policemen sustain wounds; explosives, weapons seized

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Four suspected terrorists were eliminated in an alleged encounter with Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police in Shah Latif Town here on Monday.

Two policemen of the CTD also sustained injuries in the firing, who have been shifted to hospital.

The operation was conducted on information from under custody terrorists. The dead outlaws belonged Fitna al-Khawarij and Indian-sponsored proscribed organisation BLA. Their two to three accomplices escaped during the shootouts.

The alleged terrorists were hiding in an under-construction house, CTD sources said, adding when the police raided the house, the terrorists opened indiscriminate firing, which was retaliated in a befitting manner.

The injured terrorists succumbed to their wounds on way to hospital. Explosives, a Kalashnikov and other weapons were seized. CTD has launched an operation to arrest their fleeing accomplices.

The terrorists included Jalil alias Farid, Niaz alias King and Hamdan alias Farid, while the identity of one of the slain terrorists could not be ascertained.

They were preparing explosives in drums inside the house. The bomb disposal squad also recovered detonators, detonating wire and circuits from the house after searching.

According to CTD officials, the injured police personnel include Head Constable Muhammad Yousuf and Sepoy Raja Junaid, who are receiving medical attention in hospital.

CTD DIG Ghulam Azfar Mahesar and CTD SSP Irfan Bahadur said that the terrorists belonged to the Fitna al-Hindustan and Indian-backed  Bashir Zeb network.
