NEW DELHI (Dunya News) - Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan reached a historic milestone in T20 cricket on Monday, becoming the first bowler in the format to claim 700 wickets.
He achieved the landmark during Afghanistan’s match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Rashid’s achievement places him ahead of T20 legends, with West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo second on the list with 631 wickets and his compatriot Shivnarine third with 613 wickets.
In T20 Internationals specifically, Rashid Khan also leads the charts as the highest wicket-taker.
He has claimed 191 wickets in T20Is, surpassing New Zealand’s Tim Southee, who has 164 wickets, and Kiwi spinner Ash Sodhi, who has 162 wickets.
The milestone came during Afghanistan’s 28th group match of the ICC T20 World Cup, where they defeated UAE by 5 wickets.

This victory marked Afghanistan’s first win in the ongoing tournament, giving the team a boost in confidence ahead of the remaining matches.
Earlier, Afghanistan defeated United Arab Emirates (UAE) by five wickets in the 28th match of the T20 World Cup at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Chasing 160-run target, Afghanistan crossed the finish line on the second ball of the last over.
Ibrahim Zadran led his team from the front with 53 runs off 41 balls after fellow opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dismissed on the second ball of the innings.
Azmatullah Omarzai (40 not out) and Darwish Abdul Rasooli (33) were the other prominent contributors.
For the UAE, Junaid Siddique and Muhammad Arfan grabbed two wickets each for 23 and 30 runs respectively.
