KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s energy sector has recorded a significant development as a local company achieved a major increase in oil production using advanced extraction technology.
According to details shared from Karachi, the development involves enhanced recovery techniques that have dramatically improved output from an existing oil well.
State-owned energy giant Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange that production at an oil well in Chakwal increased substantially after the application of specialised chemicals during various extraction stages.
The company said installation of a modern Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) system further boosted output. Production at the Call-III well previously stood at around 50 barrels per day.
Following technical workover and system upgrades, daily production has now surged to approximately 750 barrels, marking an increase of about 700 barrels per day.
Officials described the development as a major operational success and said the technology could help improve production efficiency at other wells, supporting domestic energy supply and reducing reliance on imports.
