ABU DHABI (Dunya News) – Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has expressed strong appreciation for the United Arab Emirates’ long-standing investment and security support, describing the country’s stability as directly linked to Pakistan’s own security framework, according to an official statement released on Monday.
The remarks came during his meeting in Abu Dhabi with Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser of the UAE. The meeting focused on expanding bilateral cooperation across economic, investment and security sectors, as both sides reviewed the scope of their strategic partnership.
Pakistan military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations, said the two leaders discussed practical avenues to further strengthen collaboration and enhance institutional coordination. Key areas included economic collaboration, foreign investment channels, defence cooperation and regional security engagement.
During the talks, Field Marshal Munir conveyed his gratitude to the UAE government for what he described as decades of consistent investment and support to Pakistan’s economy and national security. He said the Emirati role reflects deep historical ties and a durable strategic relationship between the two countries, adding that UAE leadership has played a constructive role in Pakistan’s economic and social development.
According to ISPR, both sides also exchanged views on regional developments and stressed continued coordination to promote peace and stability across the region. The discussion included broader security dynamics and the need for sustained policy alignment between Islamabad and Abu Dhabi.
Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to joint efforts aimed at strengthening the partnership across all sectors serving mutual interests. He stated that the UAE’s security and stability are an integral part of Pakistan’s own security outlook due to enduring historical relations and strategic alignment.
The meeting follows continued high-level engagement between the two countries. Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where he acknowledged the Gulf state’s consistent support for Pakistan. Earlier, Field Marshal Munir also met the UAE president at Qasr Al Shati Palace to review bilateral cooperation and regional matters.
Officials said the latest Abu Dhabi meeting forms part of ongoing institutional contacts designed to advance security coordination, investment partnerships and long-term strategic cooperation between the two countries.
