SADIQABAD (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday vowed that Pakistan will remain united, declaring that those trying to divide the country “must pass over our corpses.”
Addressing party workers at Sadiqabad, President Zardari discussed plans for a medical university in Punjab’s Kacha area, stressing investment in future generations as the nation’s true capital. He recalled historical political struggles, referencing threats from PTI’s founder and the sacrifices of former leaders like Benazir Bhutto.
President Zardari, who is also a leader of the People's Party, mentioned former prime minister Benazir Bhutto as a leader par excellence. She learned politics from her father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and we learned from her, he added.
He recalled that friendly countries had advised her against returning to Pakistan, but she replied that she had promised to the people of her country.
He said it was her destiny to die a martyr. “I never imagined it would happen. When she got into the car, I advised her not to go, but she was the fearless daughter of Bhutto.”
He emphasized respect for the Saraiki community, recounted personal experiences during political crises, and reiterated commitment to national integrity.
