ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the under-construction Islamabad Model Jail and a hostel project at the National Police Academy to review development progress.
According to officials, the Islamabad jail project, which had remained pending for nearly 15 years, is now close to completion within just one year of renewed efforts.
Over 85 percent of Phase One has been completed, and the facility is expected to become functional within the next two months.
During the visit, the minister inspected the barracks and expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of construction work.
He emphasized that establishing a modern model jail in Islamabad is essential from a security standpoint.
Naqvi also highlighted that improved infrastructure at the National Police Academy would enhance the standard of police training.

The new hostel facility, once completed, will provide better residential amenities for police officers.
A detailed briefing informed the minister that the jail project was originally initiated in 2011 but faced years of delays.
The updated plan includes digital monitoring systems and the establishment of a central control room to ensure modern security management.
Senior officials present on the occasion included Inspector General Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi, Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and Director General Federal Investigation Agency Dr. Usman Anwar.
