KARACHI (Web Desk) - The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to hold a meeting aimed at addressing worsening relations between Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh ahead of their scheduled matches, sources say. The confirmation came from President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Aminul Islam, in an interview with a local newspaper. He said the ICC has invited the heads of Asian cricket boards for discussions prior to the T20 World Cup match between Pakistan and India on February 15. The board chiefs are also expected to be seen together in the pavilion.
Islam explained that the purpose of the meeting is to facilitate dialogue among the board leaders to resolve ongoing issues. According to him, the ICC is arranging the meeting in Colombo in a formal conference setting.
He added that the goal of the gathering is to improve strained relations among India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, which have affected the global cricketing atmosphere ahead of the World Cup. The meeting will include heads of the cricket boards from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
Islam noted that the ICC hopes to hold this session and meaningful talks before February 15.
