(Web Desk) — Omani cricketer Mohammed Nadeem has made history in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by becoming the oldest player to score a fifty and equaling the record for the slowest fifty in T20 World Cup history.
During the match between Oman and Sri Lanka, Oman scored 120 for 9 in reply to Sri Lanka’s 225, losing the game by 105 runs. Despite the loss, 43-year-old Nadeem reached a fifty in 52 balls, finishing 53 not out, matching Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Rizwan’s record from the 2024 T20 World Cup against Canada.
At 43 years and 161 days, Nadeem surpassed Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya, who was 39 years and 345 days old when he scored 81 against West Indies in 2009, to become the oldest player to hit a T20 World Cup fifty.
The veteran’s performance has been widely praised as a testament to experience, patience, and skill in the fast-paced T20 format.
