(Web Desk) - The wife of Bollywood comedian and actor Rajpal Yadav, currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with cheque bounce cases, has praised members of the film industry for standing by the family during a difficult time.
Yadav surrendered before authorities after failing to repay loan amounts due to severe financial difficulties. The actor is reportedly liable to pay approximately Rs90 million.
Speaking to an Indian news agency, his wife Radha said the family had received strong support from the film fraternity. “Everyone has stood by us. The industry has extended full cooperation, and we are thankful to all those who came forward to help,” she said.
Yadav’s bail hearing is scheduled for today, and the family remains hopeful that he will be released. Several actors have publicly expressed support, including Sonu Sood, Mika Singh and Gurmeet Choudhary, while Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan have also voiced solidarity.
The development comes after an emotional statement by Yadav surfaced in which he reportedly said he had no friends in the industry. Following the remarks, several prominent Bollywood figures stepped forward to support him.
Yadav’s manager stated that although many had promised assistance, such financial arrangements cannot be completed overnight. He added that the family is trying to remain mentally strong and hopes the actor will be released soon.
Rajpal Yadav is known for his performances in hit films including Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hungama, Dhol, Chup Chup Ke, Phir Hera Pheri, and Kal Ho Naa Ho.
In 2018, an Indian court sentenced him to six months in jail and imposed a heavy fine over loan repayment issues, though he was granted immediate bail at the time. In June 2024, the High Court temporarily suspended his sentence on the condition that he take serious and genuine steps toward reaching an amicable settlement with the opposing party.
