Citizens will receive details of traffic violations through QR codes.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the “One App” digital traffic challan system, introducing an evidence-based enforcement mechanism for the first time in the country.

According to a Traffic Police spokesperson, the new system ensures transparency by issuing challans supported with video evidence. Recordings of traffic violations will be securely stored and remain verifiable.

Officials said that on-the-spot verification of identity cards, driving licences, and stolen vehicles will be possible through the app. Immediate checks of vehicle ownership, fitness certificates, and route permits will also be conducted.

The spokesperson added that digital action will also be taken against encroachments and environmental violations. Under the integrated system, e-challans will be issued while the status of FIRs and criminal records can also be accessed. In the second phase, a point-based system will be introduced, along with the registration of FIRs for certain traffic violations.

Citizens will receive details of traffic violations through QR codes.

DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir said the initiative would ensure transparent and impartial enforcement through digital evidence.
