(Web Desk) – Sri Lanka defeated Oman by 105 runs in the T20 World Cup on Thursday.
Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 225 runs, the highest score of the ongoing T20 World Cup, in the 16th match of the ICC T20 World Cup in Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Balagolla.
All the top order Lankan batsmen treated Oman bowlers ferociously and scored at will. Kusal Mendis remained top scorer with 61, and got support from Pavan Rathnayake who hit 60, captain Dasun Shanaka 50, and Kamindu Mendis 19.
Skipper Shanaka scored his half century off 19 balls – the fastest by a Sri Lankan batsman in T20 Internationals.
For Oman, Jitenkumar Ramanandi took two wickets, while Jay Odedara and Sufyan Mehmood took one wicket each.
In reply, Oman were restricted to 120 for the loss of nine wickets. Mohammad Nadeem scored 53 runs and Wasim Ali 27. Nine batsmen could not enter double figure.
Dushmantha Chameera and Maheesh Theekshana took two wickets each.

In the second match of the day being played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, Italy won the toss and put Nepal in to bat.
