ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, tolerance, and mutual respect, while urging the international community to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the situations in occupied Kashmir and Palestine.
In his message on the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism, the President described violent extremism as a grave violation of human dignity and stressed the need to address its root causes.
He stated that Pakistan remains committed to the United Nations Convention against violence and highlighted that the National Policy on Countering Extremism 2024 provides a proactive prevention strategy.
President Zardari emphasized that Pakistan’s counter-extremism approach is grounded in human rights and the rule of law.
He noted that both Islam and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights promote tolerance, equality, and respect for humanity.
Recalling Pakistan’s heavy sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, he said sustainable peace can only be achieved through education, dialogue, and social cohesion.
Legal safeguards and institutional reforms, he added, are being further strengthened to effectively combat extremism.
Expressing deep concern over the human rights situation in Kashmir and Palestine, the President urged the global community to enhance cooperation under shared responsibility.
He also stressed that efforts to counter extremism must not stigmatize any religion or culture and highlighted youth empowerment as essential in preventing radicalization.
The President further underscored the need to effectively curb hate speech and misinformation, stating that families and communities serve as the first line of defense against extremist narratives.
Concluding his message, President Zardari called for collective efforts to build a world where hope prevails over hatred, peace over violence, and dialogue over division.
