Ahsan Iqbal urges modern education reforms driven by artificial intelligence

Ahsan Iqbal said artificial intelligence is now essential, urging modern education reforms, youth skill development, and leadership training to help Pakistan compete internationally.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has stated that artificial intelligence and modern technology are no longer an option but a necessity for Pakistan’s future.

Speaking at the National Curriculum Summit in the federal capital, he said traditional education is no longer sufficient and Pakistan must establish a modern educational system to meet global standards.

Iqbal stressed the need to prepare youth according to international requirements so they can compete in the global market. He recalled that the journey towards a “Modern Pakistan” began in 2014 and must now be completed through the Uraan Pakistan initiative.

The minister emphasized that children must be equipped with skills demanded by the world today, particularly in the fields of AI and advanced technology.

He further noted that training programmes play a vital role in enhancing professional abilities, while leadership develops through vision, continuous learning, and proper guidance.

Iqbal also criticised the colonial-era education system, saying it was designed to create mental slavery, whereas true leaders promote positive change in society rather than becoming part of stagnation.
