(Web Desk) - India have suffered a setback ahead of the T20 World Cup clash against Namibia, as opener Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalised due to a stomach infection.

According to Indian media reports, Sharma’s participation in the upcoming match has become doubtful following his illness.

The left-handed batter reportedly felt unwell prior to India’s match against the United States, and his condition worsened after playing the game.

Abhishek Sharma has been admitted to a private hospital in New Delhi after being diagnosed with a stomach infection. Due to a high fever, he was immediately put on intravenous drips. Doctors are conducting multiple tests to determine the exact nature and severity of the infection.

He also missed the team’s practice session at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Reports suggest it remains unclear whether Sharma will be discharged from the hospital today, leaving his availability for the Namibia fixture uncertain.

In light of the situation, Washington Sundar has been added to the Indian squad as a replacement.
