(Web Desk) - Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has welcomed the decision allowing the national cricket team to face India in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Afridi said the move upheld the spirit of cricket, noting that the Government of Pakistan’s decision preserved the prestige of the T20 World Cup. He added that the decision also ensured stability in the global cricketing arena.

“Cricket has won, which highlights the role of the sport as a bridge to reduce distances and bring people closer,” Afridi commented.

On Monday night, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that following an ICC press release, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed the Pakistan team to play the group match against India on February 15 in the T20 World Cup.

Following the announcement, a spike in flight ticket prices from Mumbai and Colombo is observed.
