ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Transparency International has released its Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2025, showing an improvement for Pakistan compared to the previous year.
Pakistan’s overall score rose by one point to 28, earning the country the 136th position globally. The report highlights that the trend of improving scores has continued over the past four years due to consistent good governance and institutional reforms.
According to the report, notable progress has been observed not only in curbing public sector and administrative corruption but also in reducing perceived corruption within legislative bodies and the judiciary.
The 2025 survey expanded its coverage to 182 countries, up from 180 in 2024. Between 2021 and 2025, Pakistan has recorded a significant decline in perceived corruption, with its global ranking improving by four positions over the past four years.
Earlier, in December 2025, Transparency International Pakistan had published its national report, which indicated that two out of three citizens reported never facing corruption or irregularities in public institutions.
