It signals Pakistan’s push to emerge as a regional AI hub

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Indus AI Week 2026, Pakistan’s premier government-led Artificial Intelligence event, commenced on Monday and will continue through February 15, positioning the country as an emerging hub for AI innovation, policy, and skills development.

The week-long national initiative brings together policymakers, industry leaders, start-ups, academia, and youth to accelerate Pakistan’s AI ecosystem and digital transformation agenda.

The flagship event opened with the Indus AI Week on Monday at the Pakistan Sports Complex. The week will feature high-level dialogues, keynote addresses, and policy discussions focused on the strategic adoption of artificial intelligence for economic growth, governance, education, and national development.

On day 1, senior government officials, technology experts, international partners, and industry stakeholders deliberated on AI governance frameworks, ethical use of emerging technologies, workforce readiness, and Pakistan’s roadmap toward becoming a competitive global AI player.

Running alongside the summit, the Innovation Learning & Engagement Arena, served as a large-scale interactive expo showcasing Pakistan’s growing AI innovation landscape.

The arena has brought together AI start-ups, technology companies, training providers, and talent platforms, offering participants opportunities for networking, skills development, and career exploration.

The expo highlighted cutting-edge AI applications across sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and public services, while also facilitating connections between start-ups and potential investors.

A key highlight of Indus AI Week 2026 is the Technology and Innovation Hub, dedicated to promoting AI-focused startups and fostering collaboration between entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders.

The initiative aims to strengthen Pakistan’s startup ecosystem by providing visibility, mentorship, and access to funding opportunities.

The event also features a National AI Training Bootcamp, a hands-on, no-cost training programme designed to equip students, professionals, and aspiring technologists with practical AI skills. The bootcamp underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive capacity building and preparing a future-ready workforce.

The Indus eSports Championship qualifiers were also held at the Liaquat Gymnasium as part of the AI week.

Beyond Islamabad, nationwide activities are being held across universities and institutions throughout the country, ensuring broad participation and regional engagement.

These parallel events include workshops, seminars, and learning sessions to expand AI awareness and skills at the grassroots level.

The Indus AI Week 2026 underscores a significant milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward digital transformation and global competitiveness in artificial intelligence.
