The ICC said Bangladesh will face no fine for missing the T20 World Cup 2026 and will instead host an ICC event between 2028 and 2031.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that Bangladesh will not be fined for not playing in the T20 World Cup 2026 and will be awarded the hosting rights of a future ICC event.

According to an ICC statement, talks held in Lahore between the ICC, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) concluded in a positive and friendly atmosphere. Discussions focused on the T20 World Cup 2026 and the future of cricket in South Asia.

The ICC said the BCB remains a full member and an important pillar of world cricket, expressing regret over Bangladesh’s absence from the tournament.

The statement added that no financial, administrative, or sporting sanctions would be imposed on Bangladesh. The BCB also retains the right to approach the ICC’s dispute resolution committee.

Calling Bangladesh a key cricket market with over 200 million fans, the ICC confirmed that the country will host an ICC event between 2028 and 2031, subject to standard procedures.
