JAKARTA (Dunya News) - A giant reticulated python discovered in Indonesia’s Maros region has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s longest wild snake.
According to Guinness World Records, detailed evidence and precise measurements confirmed that the female snake measures 23 feet 8 inches in length, making it the longest wild snake ever recorded.
The rare python is currently under the supervision of conservation expert Budi Purwanto, licensed snake catcher Diaz Nugraha, and natural history photographer Rado Frentio. Experts said special arrangements have been made to ensure the snake’s health and safety.
Diaz Nugraha and Rado Frentio said they set out in search of the unusually long snake after receiving reports and rumours from local residents. Following its successful discovery, they named the snake “Ibu Baron” or “The Baroness”.
Reticulated pythons typically grow between 9 feet 10 inches and 19 feet 2 inches in adulthood. However, the exceptional size of the Maros python has attracted global attention.
