ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked friendly countries and global leaders for their messages of sympathy and solidarity following the suicide attack in Islamabad.
In a statement shared on X, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice and vowed that their malicious objectives would never succeed.
He said that Pakistan deeply appreciates the expressions of support and unity received from across the world after the heartbreaking suicide bombing in the capital.
President, PM strongly condemn suicide blast in Islamabad
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the support and cooperation of international partners have always played a vital role in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorism.
He also urged the nation to remain united during this critical time, stating that the courageous Pakistani people must continue to stand firm in their determination to defeat terrorism.
At least 33 people were killed and 169 others were injured in a suicide blast at a mosque in Tarlai area of Islamabad on Friday, said Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon.
The bomber exploded himself at the entry gate of an Imambargah during Friday prayers when an attempt was made to stop him. Sources said an emergency has been declared at PIMS and other hospitals.
World Condemns Islamabad Imambargah Attack
Several countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, Russia, Australia, and Germany have strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Islamabad that targeted worshippers.
In a statement, the US Embassy said it strongly condemns the terrorist attack carried out in Islamabad, which resulted in the death and injury of innocent worshippers.

US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and injured, stating that targeting civilians and places of worship is completely unacceptable.
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the attack, which occurred during Friday prayers at a mosque in Rawalpindi, calling it a heinous act and offering prayers for the deceased.
Saudi Arabia termed the attack open terrorism, stating that targeting worshippers and shedding innocent blood is unacceptable.
The Kingdom expressed condolences to the families of the martyrs, the Government of Pakistan, and the Pakistani people, while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson strongly denounced the attack, reaffirming Iran’s opposition to terrorism and violent extremism in all forms, and extended condolences to the victims’ families and the Pakistani nation.
