KARACHI (Dunya News) – A massive fire broke out in a plastic factory located in Landhi area of Karachi on Friday, Dunya News reported.
More than 10 fire brigade vehicles reached the site and started operation to extinguish the blaze, while two snorkels from the KMC also took part in the operation. The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Humayun Khan declared the blaze as a third-degree fire.
According to sources, the fire broke out in a plastic factory which spread very quickly and engulfed two nearby factories. Workers present inside the factories have been safely evacuated.
The CFO said that due to the intensity of the blaze, fire brigade vehicles were called in from across the city.
Deputy Mayor of Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad reached the Export Processing Zone to review the situation.
On the other hand Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Commissioner Karachi.
Severe traffic congestion was also reported from Malir Court to Quaidabad after the blaze, causing difficulties for rescue teams and fire brigade officials in reaching the site.
