Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said Maryam Nawaz’s decision to revive Basant has won public hearts, urging safe celebrations as prices of kites and strings decline

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said that a cultural decision taken by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has won the hearts of the public by reviving Basant festivities.

Speaking about the celebrations, Azma Bokhari said Maryam Nawaz has returned public joy through Basant, adding that overseas Pakistanis and foreign visitors from several countries have arrived in Lahore to take part in the festival.

She said the city and its skies are filled with vibrant colors, once again proving Lahore’s reputation as the city of the lively.

She urged citizens to celebrate Basant safely and ensure the safety of others.

She stressed that motorcyclists must not ride without safety rods and noted that teams from LESCO and the district administration are strictly enforcing standard operating procedures.

The provincial minister further advised the public to use only QR code–verified kite strings and kites.

She added that people flying kites on rooftops are also bound to follow safety guidelines.

Azma Bokhari said increased supply has led to a noticeable drop in kite and string prices, with further reductions expected as additional supply arrives later in the day.
