Shaza Fatima Khawaja assumes presidency of Digital Cooperation Organization

Pakistan has been elected president of the Digital Cooperation Organization, with Shaza Fatima Khawaja pledging stronger collaboration in IT, cyber security, AI, and digital education.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan has been elected president of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), with Minister of State Shaza Fatima Khawaja assuming the presidency on behalf of the country.

The development was announced during the fifth General Assembly of the DCO held in Kuwait, where senior officials from 16 member countries participated.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that Pakistan’s election as president of the organization is a matter of great honor.

She emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation in the fields of information technology and skills development, adding that promoting collaboration across various sectors under the forum remains a key priority.

The minister also highlighted that Pakistan’s relations with Saudi Arabia have gained new momentum, noting that high-level engagement between the leadership of both countries is of significant importance.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja further stated that Pakistan will work to strengthen global partnerships in digital cooperation, cyber security, and artificial intelligence. She said digital education and ensuring a safe online environment are among the top priorities.

According to the Ministry of IT, special focus will be placed on enabling youth and women to benefit from the digital revolution, while Pakistan aims to play a stronger role in global digital discussions.
