LONDON (Web Desk) - Former England captain and renowned commentator Nasser Hussain has supported the stance taken by Pakistan and Bangladesh in the ongoing T20 World Cup controversy, praising both nations for standing firm on their position.
Speaking on a British channel’s podcast alongside former England captain Michael Atherton, Hussain said he admired Bangladesh Cricket Board’s strong support for their player Mustafizur Rahman, who was dropped by Kolkata Knight Riders despite being picked for the IPL.
He explained that the situation escalated after this decision, leading Pakistan to refuse playing a match against India in support of Bangladesh.

Hussain termed the growing political influence in cricket as unfortunate, saying the sport was meant to bring nations closer, not create divisions.
He also criticized incidents such as refusing to shake hands and declining trophies during the Asia Cup 2025, calling them disappointing.
Nasser Hussain urged the ICC to ensure equal treatment and questioned whether the decision would have been different if India had made the same request.
