Two Kashmiris killed in IIOJK ahead of Kashmir Solidarity Day

According to reports, the personnel of the Indian Army and paramilitary forces killed two people during a cordon-and-search operation in the Majalta area

SRINAGAR (Web Desk) - The Indian forces killed two Kashmiris during a security operation in the Udhampur district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) ahead of the Kashmir Solidarity Day.

According to media reports, the personnel of the Indian Army and paramilitary forces killed two people during a cordon-and-search operation in the Majalta area.

The operation was launched a day earlier by Indian troops, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Special Operations Group (SOG).

Indian Army officials claimed that unidentified individuals opened fire on security personnel during the operation.

An Indian officer confirmed the killing of two people and said that the search operation in the area was still underway.

Further details regarding the identities of the victims were not immediately available.

Earlier, federal minister for Kashmir Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam said that the Pakistan will stand with the Kashmiri people till they achieve their inalienable right to self-determination, and vowed country’s continued political, diplomatic and moral support to them at all fora.

In solidarity with Kashmiris, the government of Pakistan announced to increase the monthly subsistence allowance for the refugees of Jammu and Kashmir (1989–90) to Rs5,000 per person. Amir Muqam made the announced on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, being marked on February 5.

“The decision of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to increase the subsistence allowance is a manifestation of deep love, commitment and unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people,” he said in a statement issued.
