Young taekwondo star Ayesha Ayaz gets cash prize

Punjab government awarded Rs300,000 to 14-year-old taekwondo star Ayesha Ayaz of Swat for her international achievements, with officials pledging continued support for young athletes.

LAHORE (Web Desk) - On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a cash award of Rs300,000 has been granted to 14-year-old taekwondo star Ayesha Ayaz from Swat.

According to details, Punjab Provincial Minister for Sports Faisal Ayub presented a cheque to Ayesha Ayaz on behalf of the Sports Board Punjab. The provincial minister also personally awarded her an additional Rs100,000 in recognition of her achievements.

Ayesha Ayaz, a resident of Swat, is Pakistan’s youngest international taekwondo athlete. At just 14 years of age, she has won 11 international medals and is the only Pakistani athlete to have secured more than 150 medals in global competitions.

Ayesha Ayaz expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Provincial Sports Minister Faisal Ayub for their encouragement and support.

Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Ayub expressed best wishes for her bright future and said Ayesha Ayaz would bring pride to Pakistan at the Olympics in the future. He added that Ayesha Ayaz belongs not only to Swat but to the entire nation, calling her a source of pride for all Pakistanis.

The provincial minister said the Punjab government was taking practical steps to encourage young athletes and that supporting talented players like Ayesha Ayaz remained a top priority.

Vice Chairman Malik Suleman and Secretary Sports Mohammad Ali were also present at the ceremony.
