CM Afridi directs swift compensation payments for Tirah affectees

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has directed authorities to complete the verification process within one week to ensure the prompt disbursement of compensation to affectees of Tirah Valley.

The directive was issued during a meeting chaired by the chief minister to review matters related to compensation payments for affectees from Tirah, Kurram and Bajaur.

The meeting focused on accelerating relief efforts and improving transparency in fund utilization.

CM Afridi also instructed officials to compile a complete digital record of payments, stressing that every rupee allocated for their assistance must be properly accounted for.

He warned that no negligence or laxity would be tolerated in this regard, adding that the provincial government would utilize all available resources to support those affected.

The chief minister further directed that letters be written to the federal government for the release of pending compensation funds.

He also ordered the establishment of a special fund dedicated to the rehabilitation and assistance of people affected by natural disasters and security operations.

During the briefing, the chief minister was informed that out of the Rs4 billion allocated for assistance, Rs900 million had already been spent.

Tirah Valley families' registration underway in organised manner

Officials told the meeting that registration of 17,000 affected households from Tirah Valley had been completed, and payments to 1,000 households would be ensured on a daily basis.

It was also shared that a digital dashboard was being set up to monitor compensation payments.

Provincial cabinet members Aqibullah and Muzammil Aslam, along with administrative secretaries of relevant departments, commissioners and deputy commissioners, attended the meeting.
