LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday heard petitions filed against the celebration of Basant and summoned the Director General of the Walled City Authority, the Director General of Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) and the Director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to appear before the court tomorrow.
Justice Awais Khalid of LHC presided over the hearing.
During the proceedings, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore and other relevant officials appeared before the court.
The judge directed the DC Lahore to hold a meeting with the FIA to ensure effective action against the spread of fake news during the Basant period, observing that any viral fake news post should be dealt with immediately.

Counsel for the petitioners pointed out that just two days ago, another incident involving kite string occurred in Lahore and questioned where the administration was at the time.
Taking notice, the court ordered the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to submit a report regarding incidents involving kite strings.
Officials from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) informed the court that hazardous locations had been identified and a control room had been established at LESCO headquarters.
The court inquired about the timeline for resolving issues in high-risk areas. In response, a LESCO official stated that repair would be completed within two days.
The court adjourned further hearing of the case until Tuesday.
