ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - World Bank President Ajay Banga arrived in Pakistan on Sunday for a high-profile visit that will continue until February 4.
During his visit, Banga is set to meet the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and ministers of finance, energy, and economic affairs. Officials will brief him on key economic reform initiatives and development project priorities.
Sources say discussions are expected to cover economic reforms, development priorities, and ongoing water disputes with India.
Sources indicate that the visit may see notable progress on the implementation of a 10-year Country Partnership Framework with the World Bank. Under this framework, the World Bank plans to provide Pakistan with $20 billion in financial support by 2035.
After arriving in Pakistan, Ajay Banga visited Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib in Hasan Abdal along with his delegation. The World Bank president participated in religious rituals and was presented with a traditional “Siropa” by the Sikh community. He was warmly welcomed by Minister for Minority Affairs Amresh Singh Arora, the DPO, and the DC.
Following the Gurdwara visit, Banga’s delegation proceeded to the Taxila Museum to explore the country’s rich historical heritage.
