BLAVAYO (Dunya News) - In a crucial Under-19 World Cup match, Pakistan won the toss against traditional rivals India and elected to field here on Sunday.
Pakistan require a victory by heavy margin to secure a place in the semi-finals.
England, Afghanistan, and Australia have already qualified for the semi-finals, leaving only one spot available from Group 2. India will book a direct place in the last four with a win over Pakistan by any margin.
Pakistan currently have four points and are placed third in Group 2 of the Super Six stage. England sit at the top of the table with six points.
Speaking after the toss, captain Farhan Yousaf said the squad aims to deliver a strong performance. He praised the bowlers for their excellent show in the previous match and confirmed one change in the playing XI, adding that the team is determined to defeat India by a significant margin.
Farhan said there is slightly moisture on the pitch and believed his bowling unit would utilize the opportunity.
Regarding the plying condition, he said it's a new ground, prepared well in the last two days. There is not much difference between Harare and Bulawayo. The boys have done really well in the last 3-4 games, he added.
India's captain Ayush Mhatre said he would have opted to bat first had he won the toss. "The boys are doing really well. We are confident enough. The boys are playing really well," he added.
