Bara Political Alliance jirga slams provincial government over Tirah mismanagement, demands peace restoration, corruption probe, IDP status for affectees, and immediate implementation of resolutions

BARA (Dunya News) – An important jirga of the Bara Political Alliance regarding the Tirah issue was convened to determine a future course of action amid conditions created by alleged provincial government mismanagement.

The jirga strongly criticised the provincial government over administrative failures in Tirah. Members condemned alleged corruption and political interference in the distribution of Rs 4 billion among affected families.

While paying tribute to security forces for their role in maintaining peace, the agenda of the national jirga was presented by former chairman of the Bara Political Alliance, Haji Shireen Afridi.

The alliance announced complete solidarity, sympathy, and full support for all families displaced from Tirah.

Haji Shireen Afridi stated that two jirgas were previously held with militants, after which responsibility was handed over to the provincial government and Tirah elders, but both efforts failed.

According to the Bara Political Alliance, the problems of Tirah affectees are not limited to one area or tribe but constitute a collective national issue that can no longer tolerate delays.

The jirga demanded immediate implementation of the unanimously adopted declaration, restoration of complete peace in Tirah Valley, and clear guarantees for sustainable peace in the future.

It called for an immediate halt to firing, shelling, mortar attacks on homes, and incidents such as quadcopter drone shoot-downs by militants, stating these actions are spreading fear among civilians.

The alliance demanded the dignified return of Tirah affectees, written and practical enforcement of all promises and agreements made with them, and impartial investigations into political interference, nepotism, administrative failure, and corruption in the registration process.

It further demanded that all residents owning homes or property in Tirah be granted IDP status, fully registered, and included in relief packages.

The alliance expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Upper Bara and Bara plain areas, calling for urgent control measures.

An “Aman Tehreek” (peace movement) will be launched in Bara from today to provide a safe environment for the public.

The Bara Political Alliance reiterated its commitment to stand with Tirah affectees on every forum and continue its struggle until their rights are secured.
