Pakistan Cricket Team's T20 World Cup kit launch canceled

Updated on:

The idea was to launch the kit after the toss of Pakistan’s second T20 match, but the officials stated that unavoidable reasons led to the cancellation.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The launch of the official kit of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup for Pakistan has been cancelled, sources confirmed on Saturday.

The idea was to launch the kit after the toss of Pakistan’s second T20 match, but the officials stated that unavoidable reasons led to the cancellation. There are also speculations that the final decision of the team to either play or boycott the tournament might have affected this decision.

Earlier, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had indicated that a final decision on Pakistan’s participation would be taken either on Friday or Monday. He had told reporters that consultations were underway with government representatives to reach a coordinated decision.

On January 26, Naqvi met with Prime Minister and PCB Patron-in-Chief Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to discuss the issue and seek guidance. Despite these meetings, no official announcement has been made so far, leaving fans anxiously awaiting clarity.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on February 7, 2026, with Pakistan set to play all their group-stage matches in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The tournament features top cricketing nations and has generated significant excitement among fans worldwide.

Media speculation continues over the delay, with analysts pointing to possible security, political, or administrative concerns. While the kit launch is largely ceremonial, it is also a key promotional activity ahead of the tournament, playing an important role in fan engagement and sponsor visibility.

There has been no official comment from the team management or the PCB regarding the cancellation. However, a PCB source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that a final decision on Pakistan’s participation would be announced soon.
