MIANWALI (Dunya News) – Six terrorists were killed by firing from their own associates during a gunfight with a team of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) near Chapri Dam in Mianwali.
The incident occurred during a CTD operation aimed at capturing the terrorists based on intelligence reports.
A spokesperson said as the operation was underway, the militants opened fire on the CTD team. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, six of the terrorists were killed by friendly fire from their own associates. However, eight other militants managed to flee the scene under the cover of darkness.
The CTD spokesperson also revealed that the operation led to the recovery of a suicide vest, three hand grenades, three SMGs, 200 rounds of ammunition, and explosive materials.
The authorities are currently in the process of identifying the slain militants, and efforts are underway to capture those who managed to escape. CTD officials confirmed that the terrorists had planned attacks on police and other security agencies.
