PSB approves $115 daily allowance for hockey team players

Updated on:

Pakistan Sports Board approved a $115 daily allowance for national hockey players, ensuring payments before departure for the FIH Pro League despite financial constraints.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has announced a daily allowance of $115 for each player of the national hockey team.

The PSB has directed the finance department to release the payments before the team’s departure to ensure players do not face any difficulties during the international tour.

Speaking to the media, PSB Director General Muhammad Yasir Pirzada said the daily allowance was approved in line with the government-sanctioned budget and would apply to Pakistan’s participation in the FIH Pro League.

He added that despite financial constraints, the PSB reallocated savings from various heads to arrange payments for the foreign tour, ensuring improved facilities for the players.

Welcoming the decision, national hockey team captain Imad Butt thanked the PSB Director General for personally addressing players’ concerns. He said earlier discussions on various issues had yielded positive results and termed the newly approved rate under the current budget as reasonable. He added that the most important issue of the daily allowance had now been resolved.

It is pertinent to note that Pakistan will face Australia on February 10, Germany on February 11, Australia again on February 13, and Germany on February 14 in the second phase of the FIH Pro League.
