LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) while hearing a petition seeking the recovery of a girl missing from Sahiwal, has granted police time until February 9 to recover her.

Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Aalia Neelum, heard the petition filed by Nadir Ali. During the hearing, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sahiwal, Ayaz Saleem, appeared before the court on judicial orders and stated that he had only recently been posted and had called for the case file, requesting time to review the matter.

The Chief Justice remarked that time would be granted, but questioned the conduct of investigating officers. She directed that all investigating officers be instructed to treat cases involving children with sensitivity, emphasizing that whether it is a boy or a girl, police negligence in such matters would not be tolerated.

The court further observed that police had claimed the USB containing the girl’s CCTV footage was lost from the court. However, an inquiry conducted through the sessions judge revealed that the USB never reached the court in the first place. The court noted that how the girl left her home would emerge during the investigation.

Granting police time to recover the girl, the court adjourned the proceedings until February 9.
