Iran announces live-fire drills near Strait of Hormuz amid rising US military presence

Updated on:

Iran announced live-fire drills near the Strait of Hormuz amid US military buildup, warning of restricted airspace and immediate response to any attack, raising regional tensions.

TEHRAN (Web Desk) - Iran has announced live-fire military exercises near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, issuing a NOTAM for restricted airspace.

The exercises are scheduled from January 27 to 29 within a five-nautical-mile zone, extending from ground level up to 25,000 feet. During this period, the airspace is considered hazardous and flights will be limited.

The announcement comes as US military assets have arrived in the Middle East, escalating regional tensions. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime route for global trade, with millions of barrels of oil transported daily.

Iran warned that any attack would be met with an immediate and full response, urging both civilian and military aircraft to exercise caution and follow all air directives.

Washington officials stated that all options, including military action, remain on the table amid the rising tensions. Any disruption in this key route could impact international energy markets and heighten geopolitical instability.
