ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) emphasises that responsible social media use is a shared national responsibility.
Citizens are urged to exercise caution and refrain from sharing illegal, hateful, defamatory, or false content, which can harm the reputation of state institutions, the judiciary, or individuals.
Such acts are strictly punishable under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016, said a news release.
Earlier, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) as dismissed a “fake notification” circulating on social media regarding an alleged reduction in mobile taxes and instructions for mobile phone importers and consumers.
In an X post, a spokesperson of the PTA clarifies: “This information is entirely false and misleading. ”The spokesperson said that the PTA has issued no such directives and urged the people to refrain from sharing unverified information.
The spokesperson urged the public to rely only on PTA’s official website and verified social media channels for authentic updates and announcements.
