LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Police has decided to purchase 11 new bulletproof vehicles to enhance the security of anti-terrorism court (ATC) judges.
Sources said the Inspector General of Punjab Police, Usman Anwar, has forwarded a summary of Rs238.6 million to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the purchase of these vehicles.
The summary explains that the Deputy Inspector General of the Security Division in Lahore is the focal person for judicial security, and highlights the increasing threats faced by the judicial system.
The cost of acquiring 11 bulletproof vehicles is estimated to be Rs141.8 million, with each vehicle priced at Rs12.8 million.
In addition, Rs96.8 million will be required to bulletproof these cars, with each bulletproofing costing approximately Rs8.8 million.
The summary also requests a supplementary grant to finance the purchase and armoring of these vehicles, further emphasizing the critical need for enhanced protection for judicial officers in the country.
