LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) – Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Aalia Neelum, has formally inaugurated the newly established Tehsil Courts in Sharqpur Sharif, marking a significant development in the expansion of judicial infrastructure in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Lahore High Court Registrar Amjad Iqbal Ranjha and District and Sessions Judge Sheikhupura Muhammad Naeem Sheikh. Upon her arrival at the Sharqpur Sharif Tehsil Courts, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum received a warm welcome from the District Bar Association Sheikhupura and a large number of lawyers, who presented bouquets and extended greetings.
During the ceremony, the chief justice offered a special prayer and participated in the formal proceedings held to mark the opening of the courts. Judicial officers, members of the legal fraternity, senior officials from the district administration and police, along with representatives from various walks of life, were present at the event.
Participants described the establishment of the Tehsil Courts as an important step towards ensuring quicker and more affordable access to justice for residents of Sharqpur Sharif and surrounding areas. The new courts are expected to reduce the burden on existing judicial institutions and bring legal services closer to the local population.
As part of the event, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum planted a sapling within the court premises, taking part in the tree plantation campaign and highlighting the importance of environmental protection. She also hoisted the national flag at the Tehsil Courts complex.
A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour to the Chief Justice, adding to the ceremonial significance of the occasion.
According to official details, three courts have been established in Tehsil Sharqpur Sharif. These include one court of an Additional District and Sessions Judge and two courts of Civil Judges, aimed at strengthening the judicial setup and improving case disposal at the tehsil level.
