BANNU (APP) - The district police on Monday thwarted an attack on a police mobile van by militants of "Fitna-al-Khawarij" within the limits of Domel Police Station.
According to police, the Domel Police mobile van was on routine patrol near company road when militants, who were lying in ambush, opened indiscriminate fire on the police party. The police personnel responded with professionalism and bravery, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire that lasted for approximately 20 minutes.
As a result of the effective retaliatory action, two militants were killed. Weapons were also recovered from their possession.
Following the incident, additional contingents, including an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC), Quick Response Force (QRF), and Rapid Response Force (RRF), were immediately dispatched from Police Lines Bannu to the scene.
A search operation was launched in the area, during which the bodies of the two militants were recovered.
The bodies were shifted to KGN Hospital for legal formalities. The area has been completely cordoned off, and search and clearance operations are ongoing.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Bannu, Zar-e-Jin Sajjad Khan, praised the performance of the police, stating that Bannu Police has once again proven its resolve to protect the lives and property of citizens at all costs.
He reiterated that operations against Fitna-al-Khawarij will continue under a zero-tolerance policy, and those attempting to disrupt peace and order will not be spared.
