ISLAMABAD, (Dunya News) — The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested two suspects accused of posing as government officials to carry out a large-scale online fraud, officials said on Saturday.
According to an NCCIA spokesperson, the arrests were made during raids in Alipur and Jatoi, where authorities caught the suspects red-handed. The duo is accused of defrauding victims of around Rs200 million through online schemes.
The suspects were identified as Mohammad Qasim and Mohammad Faraz. Investigators said they used fake government identities and contacted victims through WhatsApp to gain their trust and collect money.
Officials said further investigations are underway to trace additional victims and determine whether more people were involved in the scam.
