The report stated that Pakistan skillfully transformed the emerging crisis into a diplomatic opportunity.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - An international journal, The Diplomat, has openly praised Pakistan’s successful diplomatic engagement in Washington, highlighting Islamabad’s growing influence in regional and global affairs.

According to a report published by The Diplomat, India is currently facing a 50 percent US tariff and diplomatic setbacks after being denied a presidential visit. The journal noted that following India’s rejection of US mediation claims on the Pakistan-India dispute, bilateral relations between Washington and New Delhi entered a phase of stagnation.

The report stated that Pakistan skillfully transformed the emerging crisis into a diplomatic opportunity by strongly endorsing President Donald Trump’s role as a mediator. The Diplomat observed that Pakistan’s proactive diplomacy helped strengthen ties with the United States at a critical moment.

The journal further noted that after the Pakistan-India conflict, President Trump invited Pakistan’s Army Chief to the White House. In September 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir also visited the White House, marking a significant diplomatic engagement.

According to the report, discussions between President Trump and the Field Marshal went beyond security matters and expanded to trade and investment. As a result, Pakistan-US counterterrorism cooperation was revived, breathing new life into a long-standing pillar of bilateral relations.

The Diplomat also reported that in July 2025, Pakistan and the United States reached a trade agreement involving tariff reductions. President Trump announced that both countries would jointly develop major oil reserves. In December 2025, Pakistan secured US approval for the upgrade of its F-16 fighter jets.

The journal added that in January 2026, Pakistan emphasized the renewal of its diplomatic engagement with China. During the same period, the United States designated the BLA and Majid Brigade as terrorist organisations. Additionally, due to the absence of a trade agreement with India, the US imposed a 50 percent tariff on Indian goods.

The report described these developments as clear indicators of Pakistan’s effective and strategic diplomacy on the global stage.
