ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with US Ambassador Natalie Baker to discuss Pakistan–United States relations and ways to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on preventing illegal immigration and emphasized the importance of an effective pre-immigration clearance system. They agreed to strengthen cooperation at all levels between law enforcement agencies, particularly in the field of police training.
It was also decided to take joint action under comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) against fake and fraudulent visa networks.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against agent mafias involved in illegal immigration and welcomed US cooperation in this regard. He added that he is personally overseeing operations against fake visa networks.
The Interior Minister highlighted that Pakistan’s passport system has been upgraded with modern technology to make it more secure and tamper-proof. Declaring illegal immigration a serious issue, he said a strong crackdown is underway against individuals attempting to travel to the United States illegally.
Mohsin Naqvi further revealed that due to effective government measures, illegal immigration has decreased by 47 percent. He stressed that those involved in fake documentation networks deserve no leniency.

US Ambassador Natalie Baker reaffirmed that the United States attaches special importance to its relationship with Pakistan and expressed confidence that increased bilateral cooperation would further strengthen ties between the two countries.
