(Web Desk) - The release of India’s controversial film “Border 2”, widely criticized for its anti-Pakistan propaganda, halted on Friday, leading to the cancellation of early morning screenings across the country.

The sequel to Bollywood star Sunny Deol’s 1997 hit Border was scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide today amid high anticipation from fans. However, many moviegoers were left waiting outside theaters as the film failed to release on time.

According to Indian media reports, technical issues disrupted the early screenings of Border 2, forcing cinemas to cancel shows that were scheduled for 7:30 and 8:00 AM.

Directed by Anurag Singh, the film stars Sunny Deol alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The story is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, and includes cameo appearances by Akshay Khanna, Suniel Shetty, and Sudesh Berry, who were digitally de-aged for their roles.

UFO Movies, the company providing the film’s content, informed theater owners that the footage would be delivered much later than expected.

In a message to cinema operators, UFO Movies stated that the download would begin at 6:30 AM, and since the film’s runtime is 192 minutes, preparation for screening could take up to four hours.
