ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker has inaugurated the Liberty Bell campaign to mark the United States’ Independence Day celebrations in Pakistan.
The US Mission officially launched the Freedom 250 Liberty Bell Initiative during a ceremony titled “Let Freedom Ring” held at Lincoln Corner Islamabad. The initiative marks the beginning of activities celebrating the 250th anniversary of US independence and pays tribute to America’s national journey and the enduring global role of US diplomacy.
On the occasion, Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker unveiled a symbolic replica bell matching the original size of the iconic Liberty Bell, formally launching a series of events commemorating the milestone anniversary.
Located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Liberty Bell is one of the most enduring symbols of American freedom and democracy. Cast in 1752, the bell holds historic significance due to its role during the American Revolution. It was rung on key occasions in US history, including the signing of the US Constitution in 1787, and today symbolizes the core American ideals of liberty, justice, and equality.
Addressing the ceremony, Natalie Baker highlighted the Liberty Bell’s importance as a national heritage symbol and its connection to historic moments, including the abolition of slavery. She described the Liberty Bell as a powerful emblem of American freedom.
The Chargé d’Affaires also acknowledged the contributions of US diplomats with personal ties to Philadelphia in strengthening Pakistan–US relations. As part of the Let Freedom Ring campaign, fifteen symbolic Liberty Bell replicas will be distributed across Lincoln Corners nationwide, where local artists and volunteer students will be invited to paint the bells under the theme, “What freedom means to me.”
