LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) – Punjab Police have termed all allegations of fake police encounters involving the Crime Control Department (CCD) as false and baseless. In a report submitted to the Lahore High Court, police claimed that since the establishment of the CCD, there has been a significant decline in incidents of robbery, theft, murder, and street crime.

The written report was submitted in compliance with Lahore High Court orders on a petition regarding alleged fake encounters by the CCD. A copy of the report has been obtained by Dunya News.

According to the report, crimes including robbery, theft, and murder have seen a marked decrease since the CCD was set up.

Over the past seven months, CCD operations led to more than a 64 percent reduction in property-related crimes. Incidents of robbery and murder declined by around 60 percent. In 2024, 792 robbery cases were reported, compared to 324 cases in 2025.

The report claims a 69 percent reduction in robbery cases, while street crime incidents dropped from 41,000 to 18,608, showing a 62 percent decrease. Vehicle snatching cases declined by 64 percent, while car thefts dropped by 60 percent.

It further stated that motorcycle snatching incidents decreased from 9,754 to 4,628, marking a 53 percent reduction. Robbery-cum-murder cases fell from 170 to 96, reflecting a 60 percent decrease. During CCD operations, one sub-inspector was martyred and 96 police personnel were injured.

The report added that the CCD arrested Category-A proclaimed offenders and wanted suspects with head money, dismantled several criminal gangs, and traced and disrupted their networks.

Punjab Police maintained in the report that allegations against the CCD are based on social media rumors and have no connection with facts. It stated that the CCD takes indiscriminate action against criminals in accordance with the law, ensuring arrests, transparent investigations, and prosecution as per legal requirements.

The report also emphasized that Punjab Police has a strong accountability and disciplinary system in place, and that any violation by an officer leads to strict legal and departmental action following a complete inquiry.
