Shoaib Malik announces retirement from Pakistan Super League

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has retired from the PSL after a 10-year career, saying his passion for serving cricket will continue beyond his playing days.

(Web Desk) - Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik on Tuesday announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), bringing an end to a decade-long association with the country’s marquee T20 tournament.

In a post shared on Instagram, Malik said he cherished every moment and friendship he made during his 10 years in the PSL, adding that it was “time to call it a day.” However, he emphasized that his passion and motivation to serve cricket and contribute to its betterment would always remain.

Over his PSL career, Malik represented Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. He played 93 matches, scoring 2,350 runs at an average of 33.09 and a strike rate of 127.78, including 15 half-centuries.

Malik’s retirement comes as the PSL enters a new phase with the addition of two new franchises, Hyderabad and Sialkot, announced at the recent players’ auction.

The 11th edition of the PSL is scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3, featuring eight teams, with Lahore Qalandars set to defend their title.
